History of Swimwell Swim School
Swimwell Swim School was established in 1994 by John Pearce in the backyard pool of his family’s home. However, his story didn’t just start here. A few years earlier, he took to teaching his daughter’s to swim after being dissatisfied with the programs and practices of the swimming curriculum of the time.
What was initially a project to teach his daughters to swim, grew to John teaching his friends children and his daughter’s friends, and then friends of friends, and then other local children. In 1994 he was enjoying his new found passion and vocation and quit his job as a high school mathematics teacher to open Swimwell Swim School.
Since these humble beginnings, John has taught thousands of children to swim in the school’s 21 years. Aside to teaching the new and young swimmers, he has taught adults to swim, coached local squads, and assisted people with disabilities to swim in a non-threatening environment. Swimwell Swimmers have gone on to swim in state and national events. Completing a full and satisfying circle of life, John is now teaching the children of his first Swimwell Swimmers.
